Have you ever gotten "that call" and no matter what you went? My friend Vern, Twizted here on the forums, called me one morning and told me that he needed a ride home. His parents live in KY and He went down from Eau Claire, WI to visit, Bringing back his new Concorde that I had heard so much about.

I hope that after I post this he will get on and talk about his ride.

I am hoping he gets on tonight and explains...He also is doing some interior mods for my ride so I am hoping he will post some pics and explain.

As for the Concorde... only thing missing now that she is fixed is the plastic trim on the hood by the wipers.

the damage was from a foggy morning and the trailer of a semi...

LoL... I was actually not aware you had posted this yet... I just found it...

Anyway, yep... that was me... I had bought the car... 1998 Chrysler Concorde LXi and had it for a whopping 48 hours +/- before this happened...

As Rob said, I had went down to visit my folks who I had sent the money down to for them to pick this up from a local dealer... $1500 and there was nothing wrong other than needing a front drivers fender and the driver side door... I couldn't pass it up so I went down to pick it up and on the way back, in Mauston, WI.... at approx 5am in some of the densest fog I had ever seen I was cruising along and came up on a tractor trailer who -1) did not have his 4 ways on and 2) had some obviously dim trailer lights- came out of no where (is that not always the case?) and BAM! I swerved enough to not hit him dead on but not quick enough to miss him and clipped the rear impact guard which peeled my car open like it was nothing, sheared the top right off the battery putting me in the dark, in a spin....

Anyway... I managed to keep it on the road, or should I say I was fortunate that it stayed on the road since I had no control as the impact pushed a load of the metal in that area into the tire and locked it in a straight position. Once I got my bearings and was out of my daze from the result of smacking my head to hard against the roof/sun screen that it shattered CD-R's which if you have ever tried to break one it not an easy task... but, I shattered about 12 with my head!... The GF took the shifter to the eye/forehead as she was sleeping at the time with her head on the console....

From my understanding, the Trucker didn't stop for like 2 miles down the road but in the end I guess he was let go and it was just a case of tough luck... I found out later by my brother that he would have potentially been to blame although it would be his word against mine because he informed me that in the conditions that I described he should have had his much brighter 4ways on to help with visibility...

btw, sorry for the long ramble... I'm like dead tired and typing this on fumes....

Anyway, so the best part of this story is that I figured I would just throw liability on the car until I got it to Wisconsin and got it legal up here at which time I planned to put full coverage on it... yeah... that sucked... So, out of pocket I repaired it and had the body work done and I'm still driving it today.... I'll have to get some pics once I get it cleaned up... Nasty Wisconsin winter roads tend to really muck up your car....

Oh, what I had to get to repair the car... Both front fenders (remember one was already mucked up from the get go), hood, front clip, foam behind front clip, passenger headlight, entire inner structure from strut tower forward. stabilizer bar that goes between strut towers, windshield since the hood was shoved into it. ummmm... new breather box and most of the other things in that general are... It actually didn't touch the AC lines or anything else... I was amazed...

All together I actually spent more over time repairing the car than it was probably worth but... meh...

But, it gets better... or, errr.. worse...

So the impact actually damaged something else that was not visible at the time.. Apparently it had ruptured the radiator but the freaky part was that it was not leaking into the oil nor was the oil getting into the water... but it somehow, according to the shop I had do the work... was causing enough of a drop in oil pressure that it was over time damaging the engine.... So, 6 months to the freakin day that I had picked up the car from the body shop... the engine blew... So, in for a penny... in for a pound... I replaced the engine which cost me a grip... but I was not letting fate have my card [email protected]%#it!

Here are some more pics of it....

Is that a 6 years younger LMCRoberta????

On this one, note how far back the original piece was pushed back from the impact...

btw, sorry for poor picture quality on the last few.. Blackberry Pearl = fail camera...

I was going to post a link to the Picasa album but I'm not allowed :(

I'll have to get some pics of it now... I do have some things I need to do yet which I've just been putting off like getting proper retainer plugs for the front bumper cover and I never bought new hood stays or as Rob mentioned the trim that runs along the hood over the wipers...

But, that said... Working with Rob on his Intrepid has got me wanting to do some things with my Concorde so I might start working on modding it sooner than later :)
