Hey, im not sure if this is the best place for this thread, but anyways...

I got a brand new set of blue underglow for my 01 Intrepid for practically free from a friend. It doesnt have the install kit with it, but I figure zip ties or something is just as good. My only thing is i want to be able to turn them on and off, make them flash, my them flash to sound, etc. Is there any way to buy one of the boxes to make it do that? also, they are the pilot brand ones from autozone if anyone is curious.

I was also looking at something similar to these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-Color-Neo...ntrepid&hash=item4162793ba6&vxp=mtr#vi-ilComp

what do you think????

I personally think that underglow is a waste - BUT - it is your car, and your image, and that is what is important.

I wouldn't mount with zip-ties personally - I guess I don't know what you'd zip them to, but I'd think that is asking for trouble.

As for control boxes, I'd think you could get those anywhere. Have you explored eBay?

Everything I search for seems to bring up complete kits, lights and all... not just mounting kits or control boxes.

Not to sound like a bubble burster, but have you checked with your state to see if you can run those?

Other than that, it is up to you if you want to run those, and I am with cdmccul on where are you going to Zip Tie to under the body..

Probably not, I would say they would only be ok to use when parked. I know about these things. I havent really looked at anything yet, but I was going to get it on a lift in a few days and see what I can do... I dont know what the original mounting kit even looks like.

Im pretty sure red and blue are not legal to run while driving, idk about any other colors.

I was more or less just worried about finding a control box and maybe a mounting kit somewhere... then I would be fine...

I think they are cool. Had them on my trep but the snow and ice killed them in one winter. :glum:

As for mounting, you may get away with zip ties and conduit clamps available at hardware stores for the diameter of your tubes.

If you get them on we need pics!
If I get them ill definately post pics! However, your link went to a Multicolor LED kit, mine is a single color, blue, neon kit... so I dont think it will work...

If I still had my Blue System setup like in my pics it would look pretty cool together...

It would work. You just link them together. Think about it. Also if there is a multi color controller there could be a solid color color if you search.

Underbody lights are allowed while driving last time I checked per Ohio revised code with some restrictions. Look up the code.

Adel clamps, self tapping metal screws, adhesive lined heat shrink tubing to seal connections.

Ohio underbody kits are legal as long as you cant see the TUBE the light is emitted from.
I've had mine since 96 through every season and it's still running strong ..but mine is Street Glow Gold Series.

as for the control box, I dont know, but I would look at ebay/amazon, or look at the pilot website you can probably purchase a replacement control box/wiring, at least you can through street glow.

If I was you, I would pick up the '12V LED Dimmer and Strobe Remote Switch' from OZnium. I used it on my car for my strobe lights but I also connected my underglow to it so that it did the same thing as the stobes did. It works well and is pretty cheap. Just replace the batteries in the wireless controllers for better range

Also, here is an example of what it can do.

I called pilot automotive today (their website is under construction) and they sell a mounting kit/ control box for $35.95, but the box doesnt have a remote I dont think, and it wont go with sound...
