This might seem ridiculous, but has anyone ever tried to change out the first generation's pulleys/mounts to accept the accessory drive system from a newer 3.3 setup, for instance, the Caravan 3.3 found in the early 2000s? I've got an 02 and I really like the serpantine belt/spring tensioner arrangement they have. I know all of the pulleys would have to be changed, brackets for everything, lines for the AC and power steering would have to be lengthened and rerouted. It's definitely work, but I'd think unless there's something incredibly prohibitive involved someone would have done it. The longitudinal mouting of the intrepid seems as though it would be more forgiving and accepting of a non-standard accessory drive system than, for instance, going the other way and trying to use a different arrangement in the more cramped surrounding space in the longitudinal mount.
