My friend had just gotten his '79 ford f-150 2WD fully restored and ready to go and he seemed to think he was pretty fast. I laughed cause he had a mostly stock 302 in it. He insisted that his truck was fast with his new 3.50 rear end. So we went to the local little 1/4 mile strip. We stopped next to each other and like every v8 he had to rev the piss out of it (like that made it faster ;) ) but anywho we had a friend get out and drop his arm for the go signal. Right when the arm came down i hammered on my car and i knew i had him. i smoked his carbuerated pile off the line and it just got worse from there. After that needless to say my trep wasnt just a grocery getter to him :D

Yeah, those trucks are tanks, but pretty good looking IMHO.

A friend of mine back in Canada has a '78 F100, fully restored with a SVO 514 dropped in for good measure. Needless to say those 600 or so ponies and 500 or so lb/ft make up for the truck being so heavy. :)

:mad:Blasphamy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How dare you!?!?!?!?!?!?

V8s are the greatest thing in the world!

I mean you are comparing a freakin truck to a car. Trucks(with the possible exception of the Dakota R/T, GMC Syclone, and the badass Ford Lightning) are not built to run with cars. If you want to witness a real V8 feast your eyes on the LS1 in my Sig. That has got to be the baddest V8 I have ever run across.

Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater bro.

No matter how many nifty I4s, V6s, and V10s we see, the V8 will always be king. nothing is more moddable and sounds better than a healthy V8 engine. Not to mention it is without a doubt the all American engine.

There was a Aston Martin DB7 parked in my parking lot yesterday, now that is one sweet sounding car.

That 514 I was talking about is quite nice too...of course its breathing out a 3" dual exhaust with only high flow cats for "noise restriction." :)

Oh...and supercar V12's have a very beautiful sound to them as well..better than anything else I have ever heard, and I have heard almost everything.

I agree completly with Buschman, V8's are American. I REFUSED to let my wife buy her Ford Explorer with the 4.0 V6, the 5.0 V8 was mandatory. The V6 might have comparable HP, but nothing, I repeat NOTHING compares to a V8's torque.

Plus the sweeeettt sound a small block V8 makes is pure music.

Last summer I ran my 5.0 mustang with headers leading to a H-pipe and then nothing, no mufflers, no tailpipes etc. It was beautiful man, the sound was so nice I got a thumbs up from a Harley rider on the highway one day.

Always remember, just because you won one race against a V8 does not mean all V8's suck, I've beaten many Civics and Accords, can I say ALL ricers suck.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but if there was a V8 available for the Trep I would have gladly paid extra for it.

All else aside good kill though, glad to show you teaching others to RESPECT the Trep's power.

i didnt mean to bash v-8's, i ws just saying that when some people get them they think they are god and not all v8's are nice...and the v8 trep thing would be sweet, i'd pay alot for that too :)

Hey I'm not knocking the Viper by any stretch of the imagination. I mean it is my all time favorite car. But even I can admit it sounds a little wierd. The Viper just doesn't have the ballsy V8 sound. there's no other engine configuration that will ever sound as good.
