My mother's '96 3.3l Intrepid (125k miles) has a vibration under heavvy acceleration between 45 & 70 mph. The vibration is low in frequency, so I doubt its an unbalanced wheel. I am thinking its a transmission or engine mount problem. Any common failures in this area?
Also, I've been told that Chrysler automatics have a 1/2 lock mode for the torque convertor (which is why it needs ATF+), under what conditions does it go into 1/2 lock mode? I am thinking this could be the source of the vibration.
