Other than the normal places in the car, (dash, door, etc.) does anyone know if the VIN number exists on the engine itself, and if so, where ?
If no, then where can I find the engine number. Does the engine number co-relate to the VIN number - i.e. from the engine number, can one tell that this particular engine belongs to the specific VIN for the specific car??

According to Haynes, "The Engine Identification Number is located on the engine block, just below the cylinder head."
x- Last digit of model year
x- Manufacturing plant (Kenosha 9)
xxxx- Component code/usage
xxxx- month/day
xxxxx- serial code

Also, is the VIN number appearing on the engine itself??
2 that I can see. The alpha in the VIN for the engine code letter should correspond to the component code in the engine ID number and the model year code in the VIN should correspond to the model year on engine ID number.

VIN on engine? Not stated so don't think so.
