Who was this and how do I reach the fella. I have questions. But otherwise, what's the best direction to go on something like this?

Do a search for Viper NACA duct. Several out there. None are cheap IMO!

They aren't that difficult to fabricate out of either metal or fiberglass. A person might be tempted to order one make a pattern and then return it.

I'd think the inlet portion is the simple part of this, the rest of it is getting that high pressure air somewhere.

Tho, cutting the underside bracing and welding in new 'framework' you could direct the air to dump into either an airbox lid or just over a cone filter.

I need a new hood for my car and was honestly wondering what kind of vent or scoop would look cool on an intrepid. I like the lowkey retro sci fi look to it but I feel like some kind of subtle scoop would be badass and ultimately help with airflow and cooling so idk... that viper one is WAY too expensive.

I mean, basic louvers work well. When the fans kick on, they blow hot air out.

Subtle. I think they were $30 for the pair from the Hot Rod Louvre shop on eBay.
