I was on my way home, the second half of my daily 188-mile commute. I'm on a local toll road in Houston, TX, cruise control set at 75, listening to my classic rock; it's around 21:00.

I'm in the left lane in my '04 , dark red Intrepid SXT. Coming up in the right lane is a brand-new Charger in Dark Red, the word "Hemi" plastered all over it. And it is the same exact shade of dark red. He must have been going 65 or 70, because over the course of a few minutes I gain on him and pull even.

He looks over at me, revs his engine and shoots ahead a couple of hundred feet. Then he slows down till he's behind me again and stomps on the gas and passes me up again. He does this like four or five times, displaying an inverse maturity-to-vehicle-cost ratio.

I ignore him. I've got the cruise set where I want it and nobody is in front of me and I'm going as fast as I intend to go. Screw racer-boy, I'm on my way home. I wouldn't have raced him even if we had been evenly matched. Let him tell all his buddies how he blew past a V6 Intrepid, I don't care as long as he does not get in front of me and slow down.

Eventually, he feels he has made his point, and to punctuate it a bit further, he goes tearing off into the distance at what must have been near 100mph. All of this on public streets, at night, in traffic. Light traffic, but still, what a moron.

And then God made His presence known. And He told me He loved me. For in the distance behind me, lights-a-flashin', comes a cop, fast, fast, fast. I pull over to the right-hand lane to let him by, and as he passes me by, he gives me a salute.

About ten minutes later I caught up to them. Racer boy and several cop cars all on the side of the road. I bet the car gets impounded and racer boy gets to spend the night at the city jail.

Maybe in the future he'll confine his racing to a track, and not a public street. That hemi sure did sound cool, I'll give him that. What a moron.

Oh nice lol.
Thats like what happened to a buddy of mine. We were in his Altima on the way home on the 401. Two beamers come out of no were and start flashing lights and honking the horn so we let them by and said wouldn't it be funny if a cop was up ahead. About 20mins later we see lights in a construction zone and wonder was that the same beamer. next day in the paper front page news man caught doing 200+km/h on 401. We looked at the pics and it was the same guy lol.
Isn't Karma great.

Nope. I don't race on the street or the highway. Nothing to win and everything to lose, so what is the point? Bragging rights? I'll leave them for whoever wants them.

Have you guys never been in the charger's position without been caught by police? :D ...

Ya and the fine can go aas high as $10,000 depending on how fast you were going. Then ontop of that you have the fines/carges that they lay down in court. So you have to pay ALOT. To me it's not worth it take it to a track and have some fun there and if anyone says your slow show em the time slip.

Good story. Was this on Sam Houston Toll Road? There a TONS of drivers like this in Houston. It's not uncommon at all but this guy sounds like an extra juvenile prick and I'm glad he was served with a dose of jusice.

Yep, in between 288 and 59, headed North. They have needed to do something out there for a long time and it sounds like my guy was the first to get caught. Police presence was higher tonight, too.

i know of a story when my friends buddy got one of those srt 10 trucks fully loaded well just after getting he he decided to open it on the freeway.. now this is right at sunrise and there is no traffic i mean no traffic on the freeway..so he decided to open her up and he floors it he said he must of been doing150 160 on the freeway.. so he does this for a few miles and he sees a car parked under one of the over passes.. guess what highway patrol.. so he guns it and after about a min he realizes hes being followed by a helicopter so he said somethign like **** or oh ****. so he pulls over to the side and calmly waits for the patrol car to show up... bam he gets tackled arrested forgot how long he was in jail but he had like 25k in fines and lost his truck for good. the police took it and well kept it... so yea thats a reason why when you think the roads are clear.. you're still wrong.. 9 times our of ten there is a cop when you need one.

If the charger was trying to bully me I would have probably took the charger.win or lose.but i guess you have a a better temper then i do.as for the other story.going 160 for a few miles is just plain stupid.if there is no traffic,a straight away and you've been urging to let her rip.just reach a good speed to calm your cravings but slow back down to the legal speed limit.sorry to everyone who hates people who dont always follow traffic laws but im not gonna lie

Do it often Vrun. I don't condone street racing. I don't let my kids see it. I don't race or instigate a race when other traffic is present.
BUT if the moons are aligned and the conditions are right. A friendly gesture like a throttle blip just to let them know I am willing to play.

A little hit off a light or a side by side sweep up through 1 or 2 gears is all I'm good for these days. High speed racing or weaving in and out of traffic is not my game. Pick the right place to play and nobody gets hurt.

Screw the internet police who think they have the right to point fingers at others peoples actions. Most if not all are also guilty in some way.
