To start I have a 97. 3.5L Intrepid

Whats the consensus on cold air intakes, ie. replacing the accordian pipe with a smooth one, putting on a big K&N cone filter as low as possible and sealing the area off with some aluminum to keep the engine heat out of the system. Am I going to get any HP or Torque and hows the sound gonna be.

Also what about the exhaust, I don't want to loose torque, infact it would be nice to get more...is that possible with a better exhaust system. I was thinking of removing the large muffler (replacing it with pipe) and then putting on a performance muffler like a flowmaster etc. where the little muffler is, can anyone say with reasonable certainty what that is going to do for me?

You might notice a little gain in performace, but not much. It will be mostly a different sound from the muffler and intake.
