Dj, thats one sexy lady.... .<melts>

:)
Here's a picture of a picture of me. I don't have a scanner, so I used my digital camera and took a picture of a pic my girlfriend took of me last year at the Montauk Lighthouse.

And for your viewing pleasure, you can see the reflection of my ceiling fan... :)

Well, they do sound like subs.

no 6x9 sounds like a sub unless you are comparing them to a $20 bass cannon from Walmart.
I beg to differ.

A 6x9 has the same suface area as an 8" sub. If you have 6x9s of decent quality and they are capable of handling a moderate amount of power you can achieve the same frequencies as an 8" sub, generally as low as 30Hz, which as you know, is damn low.
8" subs are for girls.....if you would compare something to a sub, it would be assumed to use a 10"-12" sub....I doubt there are any 6x9's out there that could make my side mirrors rattle

also..... a single 6x9 takes up approx. 42.4 square inches(without considering variations due to depth of speaker) and a 8" sub takes up 50.2 square inches(also without considering depth)....the sub is 15.5% larger

single 10" sub takes up 78.5 square inches--46% larger than 6x9

single 12" sub takes up 113.0 square inches--63% larger than 6x9

the majority of us here with subs have either 10's or 12's ... i know that by the pure definition of subwoofer a 6x9 could technically fit the definition, but 2 6x9's simply don't compare to the bass levels produced by 2 12" subs

Thats what i was trying to say but i didnt want to type that much :)

PS-I agree, 8" subs are truely sad, id be happy to compare the bass of a factory Infinity sound system to my 2 10" and 1 12" sub :D
That's not necessarily true. I've got friends that know a lot about systems and thought I had a couple 8"' subs for factory, at least mine do. They're not slammin but they hit. I wouldn't make fun of Wallmart cause my friend had a 500 Watt generic amp he bought from there, hooked it up to his Cerwin-Vega 15" sub in his Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and hit hella hella hard, I mean slammin. I laughed and didn't beleive he got it at Wallmart but he did. Trust me if what I have didn't hit pretty good, I would have gotten an after market system by now. Of course it doesn't hit like a pro system, it's not really supposed to. I like it loud and it sounds pretty good if you set the EQ and fader right. 6x9"s can be setup as subs if they are not two or three way but usually cannot handle the low frequency a 10", 12" or 15" can handle.

I have seen 6.5", and 5.25" subs, of course no there not real subs but they are setup for bass and low frequencies, same principal and similar properties as a subwoofer, basically subs. Saying that there are no 6x9's that are subs is saying that there are no 6x9's that can produce heavy bass. My rear 6x9's produce heavy bass about the bass that most 8"'s produce. Understandably can not produce as much bass as a good 10", 12", 15" or 18" subwoofer but it doesn't mean that a 6x9 cannot be setup to function as a subwoofer, crossed over at low, bass producing frequencies thus being a subwoofer. I think the distinguishment we should start to make is "sub" and "true sub".

Speaking of 8"'s, not all 8"'s are weak. I had some 8" Cerwin-Vega's that hit so hard when they were in my room it seemed like my windows were gonna come down. My friend had some 8" MTX's in his little Honda CRX and they hit hella hard, everyone thought they were like 12"'s.

My rear speakers actually do make my mirrors rattle on my 99 ES. Speakers that are not subs do not usually hit that hard. My side mirrors rattle and my rearview mirror rattles but obviously not even close to my friends 15" Cerwin-Vega as expected.

Later guys,

sorry to stay off topic but.......has there ever been a factory system that came with a 8" sub or bigger? I have never heard of anything like that, even in high quality premium factory systems....if they are this rare, wouldn't someone who knows alot about car audio know that the bass they hear is only coming from the 6x9's and not a sub sitting in the trunk??
I've got friends that know a lot about systems and thought I had a couple 8"' subs for factory
not tryin to be an ass about it just askin
subs subs subs, its always the subs

look here

I had a pair of pioneer 6*9s that hit down to 30hz and them ****ers rattled the rear view and side mirrors of my car with about 45w goin to them. I used them to get by until I could get some 12s. Do they bump like my 12s? Hell no! But they bumped none the less, and more then a few people wanted to know where I had the sub hidden.

6*9s or subs, what ever makes you happy. My system is set up to please ME, to set it up any other way would be a waste.

dam, anuther 2 cents spent

I think Ford's new Mach 1000 sound system comes with subs of some kind.

Either way its nothing like aftermarket subs
the new Maxima SE with premium sound has a sub in the rear deck
Mazda MP3 has a Kenwood sub in the spare tire in the trunk.

I think people here are forgetting that subwoofers are designed to reproduce subsonic frequencies, generally anything below 100Hz. Most speakers can reproduce those tones, but only the larger ones (more surface area for movement of air) and reach the threshold of human hearing (20Hz) and below.
Let me try that again, here I'am with my good friend Tamera

For some reason it's not working??

small pic tho.
To 97PurpleTrep:

Nah that is actually at the Culture Club in NYC. In NYC the Pollyesthers and Culture Club are in separate locations, where in all the other locations... they are all built into one club. So i guess in the previous post, I should have said Culture Club... but most people if they have one by them... its just called Pollyesthers. All 17+ locations are all owned by the same two guys anyways.
you can order a tahoe or suburban with a subwoofer in the back, or at least you could in 2001 model year
Just relized I never posted my pic. And since I'll be leaving this forum soon thought I'd at least say Hi with a pic. Wreck info in R/T forum, wreck pics sent in, hopefully posted soon to gallery.
