I have a 2004 3.5 Concorde Limited w auto transmission. Lost power steering for a few seconds while parallel parking. Fluid might be original - very black. Gonna use turkey baster to empty reservoir and maybe pull bottom return hose - while turning wheel lock to lock... Maybe will do it a few times. Any advice. Seems likely I have the same ATF+4 - unless it was changed before I bought it...

I watched this video..

Valvoline makes a power steering flush/system cleaner that u can use.
If ur fluid is very dark and black change it asap.
Just be aware that since it got to that point u may have internal P/S pump or rack damage.
Change fluid first and go from there

Thanks Scott - should I use ATF-4 in my power steering system?

I started the turkey baster thing - turns out fluid it nice and red - looks pretty new - but has some bits of something floating in it. I bought 6 quarts and think I will empty & refill reservoir after every run. Takes about half a quart.

Yes. Atf+4 is fine

ATF+4 was the factory fill and is the best thing to put back in it.
