I also have a 99 Pontiac GT and I would have to say the 3.8 liter engine in that car could whip the **** out of my 96 Intrepid es 3.5 liter any day. Even though I like both cars the same, the Pontiac is a well built reliable automobile.

I'm assuming that's a Grand Prix? Doesn't the GT have like 200hp and the 3.5 ES have like 214hp? Is there that much of a difference between torque and weight between the two to have the GT walk all over the ES?

Just curious...

What he said.

Pontiacs might not have flashy interiors, but they can put together a drivetrain now!

If I had one for a week I would take it to the track and WIN :D

if i had one of those things for a week i would have to say i would beat the living hell out of it. see if that GM driveline can handle a week of nuetral drops, high speed jumps, and california rolls.....but i think we all know the answer to that. :D

screw that, i'd be more than happy if they gave me a GTP or SSEi for a week. i could take it home for thanksgiving and then take out some ricers. you have to give GM credit, yes the interiors of there cars are plastic and ugly, and no, i wouldn't buy one, but that old 3.8 v6 is bulletproof and they have tricked it out to be a real screamer in these 2 pontiac automobiles.

I know this has been said before... the 3.8 GTP would smoke any one of our 3.5L engines. They have 280lbs of torque at around 3400RPMs or so... maybe even lower.

Car still doesnt look as good as an R/T though. :)

i forgot to tell the tale of "the beast." my friend bought an 86 olds 98 sedan from a friend who was transferred overseas for the sum of 30 bucks cash. well, about a week after he got it the engine blew up, so they towed it out to his uncle's shop and started poking around to do a rebuild and discovered that the engine was none other than a grand national racing V6. that means it's a 3.8 bored .060 over, performance headers, performance cam, and hopped up computers. let me tell you, this is the ultimate screamer. we have yet to take it to the track because we're still working on the suspension and exhaust but when we get it done we're expecting to pull high 14s with it. then we're gonna tweak it out (ram air, true duals, drag tires, etc) and try to make it run 13s. :D :D :D

should be fun.

Lock the brake and smoke the tires until the wheels sparked on the pavement. Then I'd spark the wheels until it sat on the brake rotors!

Hand back the keys and say "no thanks". Get in my Intrepid and drive away!
