Wheel led lights in Ontario: legal or not?

7598 Views 20 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  m.fazio666
A question to the Canadian drivers:

Are the wheel led lights legal in Ontario or not? I couldn't find anything specific in the Highway Traffic Act (maybe I missed something..)

Any good/bad experience with that kind of equipment?

sorry but the only experience I have with "tirefly" wheel lights is when I laugh at guys using them

dont use them all the time...the batteries will last you about 2 weeks...they are horrible for durability...and the batteries arent that cheap
not to mention its annoying and quite stupid looking
Whats up with yelling at newbies who want to do mods to their car?

I think people are just trying to prevent others from doing dumb things to their cars like those firefly lights. And those huge stupid looking aluminum wings. And mirror tintings. And japanese symbols all over the cars (espically american ones). And unpainted body kits (if its unpainted, leave the kit off the car til you have the cash ready to paint it). And excessive stickers.

Some kid might think its really cool to see those lights on the wheels, but what they dont' realize is that a lot more people are laughing at him rather than with him and thats what some members are trying to prevent.

hmmm...what about people who already have the stuff and just want to know an answer? he didnt come on here and say "what do you guys think about these" he asked if they were legal or not, and it took until funkrider came on to answer the question...whats wrong with mirror tint? cars come from the factory with that sometimes now...the japanese ****...i agree...excessive sticker...only if you are on a track and are shooting for contingency
If a car has mirror tint from the factory,it probably looks good because it was designed to look good with the mirror tints. But you take some kid who has a 1989 Nissan Sentra and decides to put mirror tints on them, blech, that looks nasty. It just doesn't look good on most cars unless it was designed to look that way . Heck I remember vans from the 70's that had mirror tinting and it looked good on them (my step dad's 78 ford van from the factory had mirror tinting). Excessive stickers, if you are shooting for a contingency, the you are probalby in the serious minority compared to the majority of kids who plaster their cars with stickers.
thats why i said ONLY if you are going for contingency, and the only way you get that is on a track at a NHRA/IHRA divisional event

no...contingency is when you make it to the final of a drag racing event and you carry the decal and the part of a sponsor...if you make it to the final, you will be paid for running the decal all through the event, if you win, you get twice to three times more than the runner-up..in NHRA, its usually $500 winner, $100 runner up...multiply that by about 10 or so decals, and you have a nice extra paycheck
Take Larry Morgan for example...he has 32 decals that are visible, and at $500 each for an event win, that would be an extra $16,000....but some pay $650, some pay $800...it all depends, but $500 is the minimum for a win, $100 for runner up, so it would be at least $3200

it wasnt directed towards you...you stayed on the topic at least...but bobo took it WAY off going into ricer specials and all that
Actually I think it was gorm who opened it up first, I was just responding to his open ended question of why do people sometimes put down newbies for making mods, so i just stated my opinion why that sometimes happens.

He asked a question, if you’re not going to be helpful, don’t bother at all.

And why should he care what people are thinking about him? It’s his car. What’s wrong with you people always trying to judge and think what others care about.
Wahhh!
