I got a 95 intrepid ES with the 3.5 litre engine about eight months ago. So far, I've focused on beautification modifications, added a huge JSP spoiler, a hood scoop, an amazing alpine system w/ 2 12" subs & an amp, carbon fiber racing pedals and a carbon fiber interior trim kit. I'm getting the thing painted black as a christmas present. I'm glad I finally found a site like this for Intrepid owners because it seems like nobody carrys performance parts that are specific to the intrepid. One thing I have really been looking for is a new performance intake tube. If cost is not an issue, where could I find one, online or with a catologue... By the way, I live in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, so there's not much locally. On a further note, I'm also in the market for an exhaust header, if anyone knows a good supplier. Hopefully in the future, I will put up some pictures. -Justin

That's going to cause some people to make "rude" comments (LHSer :)).

Welcome to the forums.

I look forward to seeing some pics of you ride.

I wish I could answer your questions, but I'm not as familiar with the first gens as I am with the second gens.

So is your system entirely Alpine?

ME? Rude comments!?! Never! :D

As long as it isn't one of those damned aluminum adjustable jobs, or as big as a park bench I'm fine with it.

Now, on to the good stuff. Not much is made for the Intrepid, as I am sure you have found out. For the intake, you can fabricate something yourself, or just take out the air restrictor that is inside the tube and install a drop-in K&N panel filter in the box. Thats what most people do.

As for the exhaust, you would need to get headers custom made, which can be expensive. Or, you can pony up the dough and by a set of Prowler headers and see if they'll fit. No one is quite sure.

Oh, and welcome aboard.

Ok, to go into a little more depth than LHSer...

As for the Headers... they do make some for the prowler. In its first year, 1997, it had the exact engine we do [the 3.5L].
Therefore, the header kit that is made for the 1997 prowler would theoretically fit on our engines. The makers of this kit said that it would not fit under our hood though, and we'd have to do a custom hood. No one has done this yet or experimented [the header kit is pricey, something like 1-2k]

Now on to the intake. there is no pre-made intake kit for us [yet... dreamspeed was talking about it] however, if you dont mind getting a tiny bit dirty and messing around with stuff, u can take out the airbox, and move the pcm and evap canister [which sits under the airbox] to allow for a K&N cone filter to sit down there and draws cold air. I havent figured out what Im going to do for a permanent tube yet [mabey mandrel exahust tubing... or some kind of flex tube]
Right now its rigged up kinda ghetto. Youd be surprised how useful Home Depot has been in modifying my car....

;)
good luck... and I look forward to those pics... hopefully you chose your "beautificaton modifications" with taste and it isnt "riced" [a term that is used alot here]

I am fammiliar with the term "rice", and I agree with the theological principal of not boasting about performance one doesn't have. If anyone is interested in insulting my spoiler, go to jcwsportcompact.com... It's the apache. As to the cone limiter thing, I took that off today after reading some of this website. Perhaps tomorow I'll find out if there's any noticable change in performance.

I'm interested! :) just joking dude

It doesn't look that big. I would have to see it on your car. But, who am I to say what you should like or not. :)

Please tell me your hood scoop is functional... :D

Please...lets not get on the subject of Wutang15m.

Here is the wing you have on your car NextLevel.

Only thing I can complain about is its size, and the fact that it is adjustable, otherwise it is nice looking.

Adjustable spoilers, and spoilers in general are pretty much useless on FWD cars as they add downforce to the rear wheels, lifting the front and taking away traction, therefore increasing 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Not to mention the additional drag aslo hinders top speed.

How right you are LHSer. Only prob with even bringing it up is most are not adding these things to their cars for PERFORMANCE reasons. The primary goal is to personalize their ride and to "look" fast.

I know that engine mods are impossible to find, but does anyone know where to get body mods? I'm Looking for a ground effects kit and I can't find them anywhere. I also have another question that I have not seen anone ask, has anyone seen a turbo for the 3.5's, if you have, let me know!

Body kit
But I will warn you their service sucks, I got most of the kit ok (crummy fiberglassing job, very wavy) but it has been almost 2 month & no rear spoiler

i am biased on that body kit, i like the front it kinda looks like a Vision front bumper, i love the rear bumper and dislike thw spoiler and side skirts, and i like the scoops. what i am planning to do is get front and rear bumpers and the scoops, both will be made functional. (i am half asleep sorry for my spelling) i am also going to be porting my heads and intake shortly and getting the cams worked a lil. i am also looking into a .30 over bore, balance and strenthen the rods. this should be pretty good for now. can anyone give any suggestions as to the weakest parts to upgrade? and out of curiosty, what power can our blocks handle? thanx wanan make sure it will support my super charger setup

Hey Aaron.....have you found someone who can mod our computer to work with a turbo or super? A new Programmible ECU would probably be best, since our MAP sensor is useless above atomospheric pressure, and we would need to install a boost gauge...

well i planned on making the passenger side more of an active scoop, to go to the TB's, the other was gonna be more of a vent for hot air to come out and cold air to go in. as for the SC, i plan and making my setup with a clutch so i can turn it on and off. seperate fuel system with extra injectors , another map sensor, etc. injectors wil either be a 2nd fuel rail mounted to the lower intake with low-pressure injectors, or maybe 2 higher pressure ones earlier in the intke. system will be able to be turned on and off so i won't have to run premium gas al teh time and have to worry about emissions. might even rig up a variable boots controller to give little boots for off the line and increase as rpms/speed increase, don't wanna brake axle and stuff  i just gotta find a NOVI 1000 and i can start palying around

sounds like alot of cool mod work. how much do you think all this is gonna cost you? and out of curiosity what are you gonna do to beef up the tranny? cuz im not sure how well the original tranny will hold up to all that extra power...if you get all this stuff done and working right that will be sweet as hell
