my interior light are nuts, they stay on all the time. i think its the BCM. so i have them unpluged right now. i was thinking, from each door latch there is a negative trigger (a tan wire for 3 doors and a tan/red for the drivers). could i just tap into all those wires and for the ground for a new hot wire to power the interior lights? i could just tap into a fuse for the hot and when a door opens, the circuit is completed and the lights come on. i would still leave the door trigger wires connected to the BCM for the door ajar light. is there a problem with me doing this? its alot better that the $100 for a used BCM.

Standard automotive wiring has a "hot" wire, usually pink (+12v) going directly to all interior lamps, then switch the (-) black wire with a spst switch in each door.
It's more economical as it needs only a single wire to a switch.
If your lights stay on you may have a bad switch in a door, or a defective headlight switch. Try unplugging them until the lights go out.

its not a bad door switch, i checked those. the interior light switch works fine also, i checked it. i narrowed it to the BCM.

i did this today and it worked like a charm. just tapped the door trigger wires at the BCM plug and connected them to the factory ground that runs to the headliner(after cutting the wire from the connector). i did loose my fadding lights but its cool.

everything still works but i have noticed a few things. 1. the overhead map lights wont work whne you click them on. i understand they dont have a ground until the doors open but where did them get the ground before i rewired it? 2. ther rear lights work great now. they dim when the doors close whielt eh fronts just cut straight off. do you think that the front lights were the problem all along? the rears also work when i use the headlight switch to turn them on, but not the front. any answers?

Three wires basicly control the whole interior lighting. These wires run up to the headliner. Pink is always hot, black is always ground, yellow switches to ground when the BCM senses a door open. I'm guessing you don't have the rear grab handles with switches for the rear map lights because if you did you would find that it shares the ground with the fronts. This black wire gets its ground from the junction block.

Did you connect the new ground to the yellow or black wire?
Did you try unplugging the courtesy lights in the front? It would be good if you had another light to plug in there or try disconnecting one courtesy light switch at a time. I'm wondering if the yellow wire is shorted to ground.

Your pink wire should alway be hot as it supplies power to the sunvisor mirror lights (if equipped) as well. Yellow should be ground when the doors are open and black is always ground.
