From what I've heard there is a hardware security feature (barcode) burned on the inner race of the disk that won't be found on blanks. The system looks for this before proceeding to read the disk. You'd have to use an OEM blank which is not likely.

PS- I thought these things were up to like "AH" now ?!

Maybe these are different P/Ns but here http://www.dodgeintrepid.net/forums/showthread.php?t=60160

JoeKD offers an 'AG'

and here http://www.dodgetalk.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=27&sort=7&cat=27&page=1

"An updated database disc (P/N 56038642AF) was released in July, 2003. The next data update is scheduled for July 2004.

Starting with DVD disc release P/N 56038642AG (September 2003), the in-motion operation safety feature was revised..."

Yes... I've been looking into this, but now I'm a little confused. I'm trying to get one through TFC. I have no idea what rev. nic it'll come with but so far he's trying to get me one from a '05 Cherokee so it should be quite current.

Edit: We ARE talking about the RB1 aren't we ? Or is this an RB4 thing ?

Awesome !!
That certainly clears things up (+rep)
There must've been quite a change between Sept & Nov '03 or they were anticipating the software bump for early '04. It usually takes a hefty change to issue a new P/N rather than bump the nic.
