I was just wondering if anyone knew how to modify the startup screen XP displays during load up? Where is the pic file located at and what format is it in?

Nah...there are always people that know more than one's self no matter how much they know. I've just been doing this for a number of years and have been fortunate enough to obtain exposure to many different technologies that have been implemented in a variety of differing ways.

The key is to never think you know it all because as soon as you do you've lost the ability to learn...afterall, you already know it all, right?

As you are playing around with XP and the underlying technology (NT), you may find these links of interest:

http://www.ntfaq.com - NT, 2000, and XP
http://jsiinc.com/reghack.htm - This guy ownz even me on the NT/2000/XP platforms
http://www3.sympatico.ca/gboyle/nt.htm - Quite possibly the only link you'll ever need for any OS.
http://www.robvanderwoude.com/index.html - Gives Jerald (jsiinc.com) a run for his money on automating tasks.

Let me know if there are other technologies you want to check out hard-core reliable information about. I have a variety of solid links for just about anything.

Personally, I have no clue. Graphics aren't my forte'. Perhaps one of the guys in the Graphics forum could let you a hand on tweaking the pallete in Photoshop.

Alternatively, you can check the forums at http://www.neowin.net as mostly all of the boot screen and theme creators hang out on them. There are well over 200,000 posts to wade through, but you should be able to find what you need.
