I had a few things in mind to fiddle around with on myIntrepid cosmetically. I will photoshop up some images of what it might look like if I do them.

One was to paint the 4 long skinny reflective red lenses inder the tailights black, to match the red/black theme of the car...

another was to possibly get a new clear plastic panel (reverse lit "intrepid" panel) and paint it solid black except for a CLEAR "ITREPID" instead of the other way around, so when I put it in reverse, just "intrepid" lights up instead of a box around "intrepid" I hope that's understandable.

And I was wondering if it would look good to have some black stripes on the car, that matched up with the indentations on the hood, that went up the hood at outward angles, then over the roof, and down the trunk.

ummm another was to get some small black "intrepid" decals made for the two front doors, right above the "3.5L 24 valve" badging.

I have some images I made of the last one and the first one... I will try and get them up soon.... but feedback is good.

I will work on creating the other ideas. thanks

personally i'd leave it alone. i think stripes and stickers cheapen the looks of a car. it'd be especially bad to ruin the clean lines of a car as aesthetically pleasing as an intrepid.

Tint the windows. Put some bigger wheels/tires. Get a nice tail. Maybe get a wood dash kit at the most. That is all you need. Adding all these items with a nice low front aftermarket spoiler, with the paint job you have, this would be one of a kind. Oh by the way, get a nice exhaust. Leave the stickers and stripes to the "ricers"

I was actually thinking of spraying the roof of my 'trep black. Right now it is all red, except for the fading back pillars, and the door jamb pillars.

If I am gonna buy a pint of black for the pillars, I might as well buy a quart for the roof, it will probably be cheaper.

Okay, now that I actually looked at your pictures....

First off, what program did you use to modify the pictures, that is pretty nifty, and looks really good.

The blacked out rear looks real good. Something I am going to look at this weekend, I am away from town on business, when I get back home I will try and figure that out!

The stripes on the roof are out. I can say what that looks like, but I might offend someone. Let's just say if you put the stripes on the roof, you might as well hang a CD from the rear view, and put one of those big crown air fresheners on your dashboard. (You usually see this on Toyota Corollas..) Stripes, even on old Muscle cars where applied to the hood, and trunk only, never on the roof.

The stripes on the hood really don't match the contour of the hood, kinda end on a flat spot towards the fenders. It does look nice in that picture, but when it is on the car, it might not look right.

If you like it, it is your car. The best way to lay that out, is to get 1/4" vinyl tape (Found at most auto parts stores that sell paint). Definately start at the hood, and lay the tape over the windshield, roof, and trunk to keep it straight. Then use regular masking tape, and paper to mask of the rest of the car. The vinyl tape will give you a perfect edge, unlike standard masking tape.

It is your car, you do what you want with it!

I think it's illegal to paint over the reflectors. If you are just tinting them, that would look good. I like the tailight treatment (the blackened part with "Intrepid")

As for painting the roof black. It might look good, I did that to my 91 Probe. The roof did not share sheetmetal with any other part of the car. (The Probes have glass all the way around except at the A-Pillar)

Well, anyway, I like the way it looked on the 1st Gen Eclipses, so I did it to my Probe (well I had it done by the local Auto Body place). Let me tell you, it changes the whole look of the car. I never got so many compliments on a mod as that one. Especially when the windows are dark tinted...it makes the whole upper half of the car look like it's made of glass. :)

Good Luck with whatever you do....

Hey, thanks for the input, I wasn't tooooooo serious about the racing stripes... I just mainly thought that the hood was kind asking for them with the indentations and the roof also has some indentations, but they don't really match up with the ones on the hood, unless you use it as the outside edge. I do agree, I realized that the black trunk panel looked better than I expected. By the way, these were all done in photoshop 6.0 (my favorite program) and I was taking a close look at it today, I would like to know how to detatch the panel for possible fiddling. I also liked the reflectors black, I want to look into if that's street legal here in CA... I hope so, I just dislike pointless red lenses, if they don't have lights, they should be black! heh okay

Damn I always wanted an intrepid that color. I think the stripes do not fit the car. I would agree that the rear light tinting or blackout would look sweet IF you tint all your other windows otherwise it doesn't quite match anything else. I think the black intrepid sticker would look good if the window were tinted as well. Myabe paint the car hemi orange or petty blue :D

I just now removed the rear light panel and the whole thing comes out with 6 bolts, super easy, straight through the backside of that panel, inside the trunk. Although the entire unit comes out, I am unsure how to remove the clear plastic panel from the light housing panels... looks glued possibly... :( *sigh* anyone have any kind of manual that illistrates the operation?
