I did the same thing w/ my second gen, although i have aftermarket foglights and not factory. I just got sick of having to use the remote to turn them on/off so i took that all out and just wired it straight to the parking lights.

i'd like to know how to do this too. Last week I broke the knob off of the dash so now I can only turn on my running and headlights (not the fog lights). So if I have to buy a new switch it won't bother me very much. I have to get another one anyways.
All you have to do is find the power wire coming from the back of the foglight and splice it into the power wire going to the parking lights - use a test light to find out which wires are which though, cauz there are quite a few going to the headlight assembly

For the first gens, you have to modify the switch so the fog light switch can be pulled in the parking light position.
Next the fog light relay needs (should) be changed so that it is powered in the park, low, and in high beam settings. Normally the fogs go off with the highs (I think that the lows go off too, so you end up with less light on high beams) Now the fogs should stay on with the high beams.

Does the first gen use the same 35 watt H3 as the second gens?

hey

ok, i am sorry about taking so long, my computer totally whacked out on me, and just got it back up and going, anyways, i havent got any pics but i will tell you how to do it.

1.take out the light console switch thingy- left of steering column, has headlight controls, and interior dim controls, unscrew screw and remove-

2. It probably wont come completely out- the wires will still be connected on the back, right, so carefully pull the (red) plastic (pin like holder about 2 inches wide) out, so that you can pull wires out and separate the console from the rest of the car-

3. you will find like 8 different wires with different colors- have somebody stand in front of your car, and when they see the lights come on tell you which ones areon, get that? anyways- no take each wire, and touch it to another wire-when you find out which wire is parking lights only- find the wire (by trial and error) that is the foglights, then put them together, with electrical tape, and put them back into the console, along with teh 2" inch ide holder pin, this should hold all the wires now right and when you turn your parking llights on it shouyld turn your fogs on too,

4. put the console back and your done

**this is from memory- but thats how i did it, i will go get some pics asap, and tell you which wires to connect- try purple and blue first- i think those are it, it not hard at all- i didnt splice or dice anything the whole time- gimme a few days and i will get a better how- to out there, thanks

If you plug your foglights inline withe the parking lights, wont they flash with your turn signal? And if so, can you get in trouble for that?
i dont know how the first gens are wired up, but on my 98 there was 2 power wires that went to the back of the parking light. Pretty much one for each filament in the bulb. As long as you find the right one it wont flash with the blinker
