Well, to make a long story short, ever since I got my 93' Trep, the catalytic converter rattles during acceleration at about 1700 rpm and then again at 2900 rpm. So I've finally gotten enough materials to remove it and just straight pipe the exhaust to the muffler. Just wanted to know your guys' opinions. Also, someone had mentioned a while ago in a different post about exhaust components on this car, and he said that there's 3 parts, cat converter, muffler, and silencer. Well I looked under there and I only have the first 2, not a silencer. Anyway, anybody else ever done this and could give me some advice?

That was happening to me when I first bought my '95, but check this out...it sounded like pebbles backing into the engine, if you can imagine that sound. Got it up on a lift, and whacked on it like hell, but I couldn't hear anything. The dealer fixed it under some "hidden warranty" of 8 years/80,000 miles emissions. Anyway, it only rattled when letting OFF the gas. It was fixed, but it's coming back again. It's not like my emissions are all that great anyway with a sticky EGR valve.
