Here is a redemption story for all you 2.7 drivers who have gotten dissed. Going down thru our city we have a threee lane highway with like 5 stop lights on it about a quarter mile apart, and now that our city cops are boycotting (not wirting any tickets due to funds cuts) its been a drag srip. I was cruzin down in the other day lookin for some action when I pulled next to this 2nd gen intrepid with a mid-aged guy wearing a camoflage hat. I always wanted to race another intrepid...just for the hell of it...to see how good a driver I was. But since this was a mid aged man driving an SE...i didn't think anything of it. He surprised the hell outa me when he guned it when the light tunred green. I slaped the auto stick down to first and tried to catch up. I got to his reer door and from there on it was a dead heat until we let off the gas around 70. 2.7 I thought...STOCK I thought??? I looked ofer him and he just smiled and honked and pulled away. Myabe it was because I had a passenger in the car, or maybe it was beacuse of the audio system...but I'm thinking these 2.7s are nothing to laugh at.

We went to the drag track in the begining of November and Elboricua75 came with his 2000 2.7L SE Intrepid. Randy also came with his 2000 ES 3.2L. As I recall, Elboricua75 ran a 16.863 @ 84.35 mph and Randy ran a 16.27 @ 84.94 mph
. Time slips don't lie.

Well .593 of a second isn't that impressive of a difference. Nor is .59 mph.

1. Yes, this is my intake with an HP gain
2. Also part of the intake
3. No HP gain
4. No HP gain
5. No gain when it's 32 degress out (when we were racing)
6. My other HP gain mod

So in actuality, I really only have an Intake and Underdrive pulley

The only thing I have on elboricua is an underdrive pulley, since he also has an intake

Very true Randy... however just bone stock your trep would whip a stock 2.7L. Also IMHO it depends on the driver also.

Yes, and timeslips DO NOT lie, and since no one believes in magazines, I will say this, the magazines say, or should say the stock 3.2 is faster than the stock 2.7. This is the reason the aftermarket exists, so that you dont have to play with the stock numbers. Not enough mods? Get some more then.

I ran a 16.02 at 85 or some ****. Who cares, its just a Trep. I recall that Lafrad ran a 15.8X at 86 I think. He also has a first gen 3.5L.

You will never beat me, you will never be able to catch up to me, and the only part of my car that you will always see; are my taillights from a mile away. ;) :D

There is no such thing as too much modifications, ever, I mean, if you beat one stock 3.2, does not mean you will beat every 2.7 and 3.2, it depends who you pull up to and what you have to back yourself up.

I HIGHLY doubt that the old man down the road with the 2001 ES has mods in his trep. :baaa:
