How do you get the wiper arm off?

The plastic cowling over the firewall is all busted up and needs to be replaced on my 97 Intrepid ES. So, I need to take the windshield wiper arms off to remove the cowling. My Chiltons says remove the retainer tab.
I don't knows what it is referring to. Any help here is appreciated.

BTW, will a firewall cowling( I guess that's what it is called) from a '98 Intrepid fit my '97 Intrepid ES? A local junk yard has one I can get.

there is a small tab that has to be pulled to remove the arms, pull the arm up to pull out the tab, its right at the base of the wiper arm look around long enough youll see what im talking about, also you might need a screwdriver to pull it out, *note: it doesnt pull all the way out but the wiper arm has to be pulled up off the windshield to pull the tab,

If you pull the wiper arm up you'll see the tab under there, its silver, you just pull it out... Anyways i don't think the 98' Trep part will fit on a 97 ES.

It wont. Different generation.
