I am not quite sure why the 30/35 won't work as like you it looks really close to being a workable ratio. It probably has something to do with the chain as the prowler pro gears use a single chain system

I have emailed the guy who wrote the article he he claims to have all the chain calculations and detailed cad drawings. I beleive he did have them as he was having them made by an outside gear shop and selling them.

If I get anything I will pass it on to you, (I would not hold my breath though as I think prowler pro sued the guy because they had a patent, that being the case they would probably demand all of his information as intellectual property).

Here is the response I got from tony@prowler.ca

Hi Raymond, I am now again able to supply G-Force Performance Gear sets for the 42LE transmission. I agreed with the manufacturer to keep the drawings confidential. Give me a call at 519 245 1820 and I will discuss what I can with you.

I will talk to him today if I can get a hold of him.

Check out the gears at prowler.ca

I just shot an email off to him asking about getting a tall ratio gearset that would work with our stock chain. maybe that can cut the crazy price down a bunch.

The response from Tony at Prowler was no deal on the CAD drawings. That would be too easy.
My SE gearing came in today, nice workmanship.

The Prowler website only says "Patent Pending" no number?

Keep us posted on some reasonable Gear ratio`s.

Check out this link there is 4 different sets of pictures of different prowler gear installs. the only difference is location of our tranny and the install of different gears.

I don't know if you will need a gear spreader to put on the new gears but the pictures show one that comes with the prowler pro gears. I made up one using a couple of bolts and a nut and two peices of aluminum as the curved peices. You don't need it to take the gears off, but you may need it to put the new ones on, I don't know for sure. As I am still waiting for one of my gears hopefully I will get it on Friday.

I work in a CNC shop and could have stuff made if I had CAD drawings. It shouldn't be very much $ either as I could have some made for free if I supply the metal. :) Same with an underdrive pulley :)

I could make up some CAD drawings if you ever need something. ****, I could even write the CNC code for you!

:D

Put my 2.7 L gears in today. 3 hours and 45 minutes with including a beer and smoke break and clean up time after.

Just drove it around enough to get it warm to check the tranny fluid. Definatly gets through first faster, noticbly more jump from the start. But its the start of rush hour, and kids are getting out of school so it's off for a brewski.

For less then a hundred bucks you cannot get a better off the line performance boost then this IMO.

If you boot your car everday like I do it dosn't take long to figure this out, it takes just one full out trip through first gear.

I`m glad that gear mod is catching on. One thing to add, I found out that their are 2 chains on those gears. The parts guy ordered
only one, so had to wait for the other. How many miles on your car, rman300m? Was the chain loose? Mine has 80K so didn`t want to take a chance.
The Original gears are broached so the teeth are offset.Must be for smooth power transmition. The part looks like Heat treated cast steel and induction hardend gear teeth. (33 rc. spline and
38 rc teeth). The prowler Pro chain has to be shorter because the total number of teeth is Less.
Should get mine on SOON !!!

Rman, could you help me with an install? PLEASE? I would be interested if I had some help on the install.

Quote from the second post in this thread. "The chains are super strong and I doubt you will need the chain. Mine looked brand new when I had it off at 70,000 miles."

You don't need new chains it is a waste of money. I have never heard of any chains in these transmissions failing and parts guys are surprised that these transmissions have chains and gears, because none ever fail and they never have to order them.

Return the one you got and save a few bucks. The chains are more money then the gears.

Your right about your description of the gears, Oddly when you look at the original gears they look like they were made from two peices and then riveted together. Both however are very strong and I can't see how they would ever fail.

I will make up some instructions sometime this weekend. The job is not that difficult, when I post the instructions have a look.

I Installed my gears today. Took about 6 hrs, W/trans filter change, took 6 Qqts. of fluid. I`m in the "rust" belt and those 6 bolts were HELL to get off. Broke a cheap 1/2" socket went to Sears to buy another but MAN it pulls nice out of the hole.
Now, the old chains had about 5/8" slack in them and the new ones have only 1/8" after install. Don`t waste your money, even if you have 80K miles old chains should work fine! I bought mine for wholesale so I didn`t pay to much.

I didn`t do any 0-60 runs but it DEFINITLEY is faster. The speedo has to be re-calibrated, because the tach and speedo show the same as before but it`s off alittle.
The job takes some mechanical knowledge but I did mine in the driveway. The links from this board really helps.

Congrats on the install Mopar4me.

Yeah I was out driving around alot yesterday and the car is stronger of the line and feels the same during any other time. Though physics tells me it should be a little stronger under 4000rpm at all conditions.
