hey thought id share this... i have a 94 intrepid 3.3L... and my best friend has a 95 dodge caravan also with a 3.3L...we go out to the track tuesdays when we do something new... bragging rights i reckon... before i got my cold air intake and test pipe i ran 11.5 in the 8th... the van.... 10.9 in the 8th... beat me....he didnt let me forget that lol... UNTIL... i ran my intake pipe into the bumper and in front of the radiator and upgraded my catback by replacing the cat with a test pipe... and im proud to say that in helped my time by almost a whole second... 10.7 now.... not too bad for a 3.3L NA i guess...and to finish the story.... since he couldnt stand losing... he has a VR4 engine and tranny on the way you know... turbo... all wheel drive. mitsu's not so good version of the stearth RT turbo :D ...man.... hes going to smoke me lol...cant wait... we might even have to put a roll cage in it now

That will not be easy since the engines face 180 degrees in the other direction in the 3000's.

Why not just visit www.Turbominivan.com Much better ideas there and much faster vans. Especially with the all-iron 2.5L monster. You can run around 20 psi of boost and some have gotten minivans into the 12's in the 1/4 mile.

Last summer I was cruising with a friend in his '00 v-6 Avenger. We pulled up beside a couple kids in a mid 90's Caravan. It was funny cause they sat revving and jerking it at the light. I'm not sure if it was a 3.3 or 3.8. That thing pulled almost a full van length on us and took us almost half a block or so before we pulled even. When we went and got my car we couldn't find that Caraven to pay 'em back. :D

Then again, his Avenger is pretty slow! :)

Hmm. I always understood it to be that the 3000GT VR4 was much better than the Stealth RT. From what I heard and what I've driven. The Stealth RT didn't come close to what the VR4 offered, even though they are essentially the same car. It's kinda like comparing the Intrepid to the 300M.

hehe, yeh the 3.3 vans arent that slow, really. i mean all the 3.3 vans have been sitting at like 17 flat for the last ten years, even with all the weight gains. in fact, one time one of the mags got a 16.4 out of a t&c van with the 3.8.

im beginning to think that intake manifold is killing the 3.3 in the intrepid. despite the power ratings being nearly identical, more 3.3 intrepid owners complain than all other 3.3 owners combined, as far as i can tell. and ive talked to like every 3.3 owner online, lol.

The LH manifold is pretty crappy.
94customtrep, i'd say he beat you beacause of the low end torque you lost from your exhaust setup you discribed in another thread. what sort of mph were you running in the 1/8th?

i got up to 61... not good at all i know... my 2.25 inch piping ran into a stock piping at the rear wheels... i cut that off when i ran the new intake... seemed to work rather well... and yes... the 3.3L intrepid intake manifolds blow... i have a thread about putting the caravan intake manifold on it.. should bolt on... everyone thinks its a waste because of how complicated it would be... the trottle body would be moved etc.... the egr setup is different... but you can get a plate and remove the EGR... im going for it... prolly sometime next week... ill let you know how that comes... i love doing things that people think are complicated... its wonderful...especially if it works lol

if you can spare the bucks, might wanna look into the new manifolds, as the tb would come out facing forward and they are somehow variable. if you pioneered a variable intake mod that gained 50 hp from 5000 rpm on id call you a hero.

good luck with it anyway.

and who makes a stage 4 kit that hits 750? the only stage 4 kit I know of that even comes close hits about 500 but then you're talkin several grand as well...

What would you rather roll in a Trep or a mini van!!! Sometimes speed isn't everything!!

i love that van... of course i love my trep much more... but that van kicks ass...and... its a dodge! woo hoo.. i love speed... hell... its not even speed... its that look on the guys face when you beat him... like "wow... THAT thing beat me?" its a great feeling,.... and that van... stock... is pretty quick.. beats quite a few cars out on the track...

I was driving down bathurst late at night around 1am in the morning, I had an Acura RSX (Manual) pull up beside me, for jokes I reved my engine
he takes off like a rocket off the line, my tires are spinnin like a ***** since i floored it and than right after my van starts to pick up lots of speed
right when it hits its overdrive gear it rockets past the RSX, it was the funniest **** ever , the rsx driver looks at me while im passin him with a surprised jaw dropping look on his face lol!
he's all embarassed so he does a u turn and gets the hell outta there lol
I was drivin an old skool 94 DODGE CARAVAN 3L v6 Mitsubishi 3spd auto all stock!

So yeh my kill list so far
Cavalier Z24
Acura RSX
Honda Civics (All the riced out ones) doesnt really count
soo damn funny

FUTURE MOD'S:
ENGINE SWAP to the STEALTH 3L TWIN TURBO Mitsubishi engine
5spd manual tranny
Cold Air intake
Quad Exhaust
UnderDrive Pulley
i wanna turn this van into the ultimate sleeper, i will do nothing to the body of it
its not the coolest lookin ride on the block, but it turns heads durin a race
