Valve body removal...?

Trying to remove the valve body from my daughter's '95 Concorde to replace neutral safety switch. I have droppped pan(that someone used at least one tube of silicone instead of gasket and light bead) taken all the hex head bolts out of body but valve body will not come out of trans.

Aren't all Torx head bolts holding the valve body together and are not holding body to case?

The trans is still in car and not on bench so it's a little harder... so what's the secret to getting to the switch?

Thanx!!

I do believe you have to remove the shift cable and arm that attaches to the shifter shaft, and then the range sensor plug on the top right rear of the transmission.....98 and newer you have to do this, but 97 and older transmissions are very close in design, so it should be the same procedure.

The whole shift shaft and range sensor will come down with the valve body.

neutral safety switch?

Are you sure there is a neutral safety switch? I certainly do remember the TRS switch (Transmission Range Selector) as it took me forever to get the stupid thing unplugged! anyway - to remove the valve body you need to unplug the TRS connector, shift the tranny to "low", disconnect the shift cable bracket, then turn the shift rod one more click to "ultra low". at that point you can lower the valve body. of course, this is with the 2G - as I just did this on my 2002. if you have more q's, drop a line! there's actually a really good write up on here with pics. I think it was by chewievette.

The "neutral safety switch" is all contained in the Range sensor. Agree, they are a PITA to unplug with the tranny in the car, found that out myself a few days ago.

Here's Chewievette's rebuild thread, there are alot of pics, hopefully some of the valve body for you so you can see what we are referring to:

I'll try one more time with Alleycat's instructions and from info in chewievette post.

Are there any springs or anything on top of the valve body that will fly out when I pull it out? I know there are inside the body. But was wondering about if the body came out in one piece if there were extra parts that I'll need to know where they go back when re installing valve body?
